This is a topic which has become a worthy option to consider for giving NBDE part 1 or Part 2 exam,
VISITOR VISA.
Like other things, it also has its own advantages and disadvantages.
I have seen many successes and failures alike. There are some obvious advantages but people are still confused. So let me elaborate on the whole topic. I do not want a long post so we will concentrate on its advantages. There will be another post on its potential disadvantages.
- Saves Time: This seems an obvious advantage. You will save time as you will visit US only for the exam and quickly run away back home. No hassles of MPH etc.
- Saves Money: Your expenses will include traveling and living expenses. (but if you have a friend who can help you a stay, then things will be all the more cheaper.) I know some people stay in groups and save on expenses. Things seem to be costly staying in a hotel or renting your own flat. It saves money in comparison to the fees that you might have to pay for MPH or MHA. (I will talk about it in next post)
- Saves Energy: I mean it. It doesn't look so real but it is a pertinent reason. Living in US is not easy. You have to do all work on your own, from Laundry to cooking to college and what not. In your home country, like INDIA, you can JUST study, without being bothered. Your mommy will cook for you and do the daily chores. Other way round, if you are in hostel, you may still afford to go out and eat. NOT so in US!! LOL!!
- Easy Visa: These days Visa is easily available for US even if you mention you are visiting for NBDE part 1 exam and so on. There are always exceptions like Chennai Consulate, which is not considered very friendly , unlike New Delhi's Consulate. Luck also matters at times, like my friend was rejected Visa thrice even though he was coming for MPH.
- Good Deal: Looking at the possible scenario about the new pattern to be launched for NBDE in 2010, Visitors Visa seems to be a right choice presently. You don't want to see surprises and spoiling all the fun about NBDE. Things will change and as the economy is not so confident for another year, it may have its own toll.
I will say, if you have finished your internship or going to do so and really serious about NBDE, then this is an amazing option. Although you have to be on your toes if you want to apply for 2010. Time is scarce especially if you are getting this info for the first time.
There are other posts that will talk about how to get started and do things.
P.S: Please post your Comments if you like the post.
