Now I presume that you already have read my last Article and decided what exam you should give to study in US depending on your Major. (ask me questions for any doubts on forum.medabroad.info). So now go and give your exam. You might ask how much should you score for admission in a US university. That is a very subjective question and I will like to deal with that in the forums or may be some future posts. My experience about GRE Exam is that admission in US universities can be from 1000-1400 score anywhere. The higher the score the better your chances of everything starting from Admissions to Visa and landing in US with least of your problems. Get a GOOD score.. and thats the bottomline!! No Ifs and Buts!! Your score alone can help you win one-third of the battle.
- Now you have to decide what all universities that you might want to apply. There could be N-factors on which you can decide about that. If you have enough money whatsoever, and dont think you want to save, then please skip to the next point. But in case you are from a middle class family in INDIA or abroad anywhere, desperate to save money, then continue reading.
- Assuming that is taken care of, now the next question is back to the first question, Why you want to come down to US. (Read the first article.)? Do you want to make it as a career??? Is MPH or whatever your course is , simply a mean to come down to US or you really really want to make out your living either in US or INDIA. (Again first article ). This will tell you what kind of university you should apply to. Do you already see a pattern? Finances, your career choice and not to mention your GRE score.
- Now let me add a little twist to the already twisted game? You may ask" I might get a loan or a Scholarship and may be I can work for 20 hours a week. That will take care of my expenses?" Oh ya you are right. (For all those who don't know, all the Full time students can work up to 20-hrs on-campus.) So, may be I can just change my lines a little cleverly and still prove my point. It still is a part of the finances. Only thing I 'll add is you are never sure if you are going to get funding or job so be prepared for what you might have to pay. You may also change the total expenses by this probable equation : I call it as FLOSS
that is Fees + Living Expenses + Other expenses - Scholarships - Salary. So do research on all these topics and may be a good beginning will be our forums at forum.medabroad.info. Calculate that and you will get really close to the type of universities you might want to apply to!!
