YOU finally got that dream dental JOB interview and you are prepaing yourself for the Interview Questions. Did you ever consider that asking some questions to the employer if HE is actually a good fit for you? Some questions will tell a lot about interviewers' interest in your profile and show them that you are also seriously interested in the position being offered. What all can you ask?
- Ask about the position you are being hired for?
Is this a new position in a new office? or is it an old position where somebody has vacated recently and they are trying to fill it in with you?Why did the previous employee leave? This will tell about the past and of course the future of that position. You can be mentally prepared for that position. Think twice if that company doesnot give you a satisfactory answer.
- Where am I going to be placed?
In Virginia, Philly , Connecticut or as far as New Mexico? or the position is an open position for anywhere in the US.. Not many would like to go to Alaska.. I wont , would you?
- What are the days that I need to work in the clinic?
How good it would be that the number of hours that you need to spend in the clinic is really flexible. The flexibility of hours to work in makes it more productive
both in terms of social life (which is really important if you are married) and professional life.
For eg: I know few clinics that offer you to work more than 10 hours a day and other days
only 4-6 hours followed by a long weekend starting from friday etc.
Essentially you are finishing the same no of hours and hence getting longer periods of breaks in between.
- You should ask the number of patients scheduled in the appointment book. You should confirm what kind of work you need to do?
Do they have a regular flow of patients' pool? Do you treat more of dentures, Bridges, Root Canals, Extractions?
- You need to ask what kind (economic level) of patients come in for treatment?
As it is said that we should not be concerned if the patients like us, what you should be concerned is if you like them. Simply,iIf you like them, invariably it will show in your actions and they would end up liking you!!
- Whats are your growth prospects being committed to the company?
Ask about what heights you can reach if you stay committed to the company for the long term.
Is their any extra incentive that they are offering you? like Visa Sponsorship, raise in salary, relocation bonus, even as a manager to the whole dental clinic as being offered by Aspen Dental etc.
- Do you offer the CE courses if I start working with you? If yes, would that be considered as a paid leave? Who would pay for it?
If they do offer then it tells us that they do consider you an asset and are willing to invest in you.
All the best in your search for jobs. If you have some more things that you want to ask, please post it in the comments below.
